Recording tips:

1: To get a warm FAT sound when recording your guitar, take some time to play with the
EQ and gain controls on your amp or pedals. ( A good amount of gain plays i big part on the FATNESS of the guitar, however too much may result in oscillation and drowning the tone of the guitar ) My preference ( using a Marshall JCM 2000 TSL ) Lead channel: gain on 7, low on 7,
mids on 5 and treble on 3. This way you'll have a nice warm FAT sound while playing rhythm and also not neglecting the long sustaining notes while playing a lead as the drive just smoothly carries the notes of your guitar.

Done with the EQ and gain part??? Lets roll!!! Don't you just love VOLUME??? The more the merrier!!!

2: Ok... Now we're going to set the volume decibels and SPL for the recording input gain.
I usually record at 95 decibels which is pretty loud I might add but never the less, there is method behind my madness. you see, the louder the amp is set the rounder the overall tone of the amp and guitar. Not all amps have the capability of reaching those decibels, so don't go and blow your amp or speakers now!!! I've been there and done that, its not nice playing an electric unplugged cuz you blew your amp lol...

Depending on the size of your amp will determine the volume potential, so after fiddling with the EQ's and gain, gradually set the volume higher and higher, you'll either start hear a crunchy sound, that's when your clipping the amp, when you hear that, turn it down a notch or 2 and... Congratulations you've just reached your amps full potential. If however, you dont hear that sound you must have a pretty large amp and should invest in a DB meter and keep it under 95 decibels before your neighbor throws a brick through your window...

3: Micing up the amp, the closer you place the mic in front of the speakers the thinner the sound will be, the further away you place the mic the thicker the sound will be.
I preference is 100-200 mm away from the speakers...

Hope you guys enjoy these tips.
Happy recording...

Rock and roll baby!!!

Electro-Velocity. Music by Duane Clive.

Duane started taking interest in good rock music and playing the guitar at the early age of 14, he took up guitar lessons shortly after purchasing his first pride and joy electric guitar for a remarkable R 350 - 00 which he had saved up for 6 months as the price was just way out of his pocket money budget, he then took up guitar lessons and graduated within a period of 6 months from the Kempton music studios. His unbelievable obsession with the guitar had him glued to it most of the time and because of this he started teaching himself all the chords of the guitar and different scales', modes and rhythms thus the reason for such an early graduation.

Duane wrote one of his very first songs at the age of 15 song title "walk away". Up to date Duane has successfully mastered other instruments other than the lead guitar namely, drums, bass, keyboards. Duane has with his knowledge successfully recorded his own albumn called A.T.O.M.S consisting of 14 tracks, all the instuments were recorded by Duane himself, playing and recording in real time using multi tracking recording software. If you would like to listen to Duane's music please feel free to visit the url listed at the bottom of this page. Duane started his first gararge band which he named "sore dust" in 1998 at the age of 16 which was just a bunch of school kids deviously irritating the neighbors, needless to say, it was just a chaotic noise filled with anger and rage against society and life itself.

From an early age Duane used music as an escape from reality/pain and/or anger which explains alot in terms of his aggressive music style and lyrics, music for Duane was and still is unquestioably the most effective escape and relief from lifes pressures. In Duane's life, his one and only true friend, companion and life partner is...Without a doubt...HIS GUITAR. Duane uses Marshall, Crate and Hughes & Kettner amps, Charvell Jackson and Ibanez guitars. Big amps... The louder...The prouder!!! Big cases of beer... The more... The merrier!!! Blowing the roof off with a sound... Cracking the walls and shaking the ground!!!
